I have to disagree again (I diasgreed with your video on piatols without manual safeties). For your average shooter, who isn't ex military or law enforcement, having both hands on your pistol is critical. If you run a high powered WML with a strobe, I'm talking 1,000-1,500 lumens, you're more likely to get the jump on home invaders. I've seen the FBI method, and they hold the flashlight directly next to their pistol. If a light gives away your position, and people shoot at it, they're going to hit you center mass anyway, and you didn't have both hands on your pistol, which makes you more likely to miss. Many people make the argument that WMLs cause you to point your pistol at family members, violating the rules of gun safety. Modern WMLs have such a wide spread, you can identify family nembers without pointing your barrel anywhere near them. Pretty much every modern WML comes with a temporary on feature. Thats a great way to see he bad guys, blind them temporarily, and change positions. If you're awesome at one handed shooting, and have the training to hold a handheld light away from your center mass, more power to you. Average shooters can't do that.

An external safety can prevent an accidental discharge, especially when holstering. The way around an external safety, as many others have already mentioned, is to train to drop it until you can do it in your sleep. I've trained to drop mine while drawing. Also, the best way to train is to go to a range and participate in shooting competitions. That will force you to drop your safety under stress and anxiety. Constant quality training can keep you safe with a safety.

I used to be a cop in the AF, and I for sure would use a handheld before a gunlight. Like you said, a flashlight is a bullet magnet, and you need ways to keep people from shooting at you...and used properly a handheld can do that. Im a civi now and Im not looking for trouble, but if it finds me at night...well, I still have a few surprises up my sleeve.

I'm a brand new subscriber. I think I saw you in some interview months ago, but didn't know who you were. But last night, my wife and I watched your interview with Nick & Tina, which was awesome. I then looked up your yoo toob channel and subscribed. I've been picking more or less at random your videos since to try and catch up. I'm not new to firearms, but relatively new to concealed carry. Even after decades of seeing the agenda of destruction put forward by Democrats, RINOs and other socialists, I didn't concealed carry. That changed with the blatantly obvious stolen election of 2020. My EDC? The Taurus GX4, which I pocket carry. I know, I know...now I've got some 'splainin' to do. I saw you in one video describe yourself as "a buck sixty-five." That's basically me, at 5'10". (My doctor says I'm 5'9" now, but the TXDMV says I'm 5'10", so I'm goin' with that.) I'm 70. I deal with some hand/wrist issues that are age/health related, but the GX4 isn't too snappy for me, and racking the slide is a non-issue. I went with the GX4 because it's 9mm and has an 11+1 capacity, plus a spare 11-round mag. I went with it also (largely) because it's so concealable. And yeah, I said pocket carry. I tried OWB and IWB and just wasn't comfortable with it. The GX4 fits in a DeSantis Gunhide Nemesis holster (#N38BJE1Z0), and the trigger guard is fully covered. It draws well (fast & smooth) and the holster stays put. And that rig rides in the front pocket (with nothing else in there with it, of course) of my Coleman's canvass utility pants, which have a great pocket for both concealment *and* easy access, as well as a pocket on the side of the right leg which is perfect for that aforementioned spare mag. That's the way I do it, and I'm very comfortable with it, so I *do* Every. Day. Carry. YMMV.

We live in great times for EDC. It's absolutely doable to carry a pistol and a spare mag, giving me 23 rounds at my disposal. Throw in a pocket knife and the extra weight, distributed in different pockets, is only 3 lbs.
